Jess Loseby
An increasing number of net artists are working at the intersection of visual and literary art traditions. When we set out to locate an exciting example of this, we came across 'Views From the Ground Floor' by Jess Loseby.
This piece is an amalgamation of video, sound, still images, writing, and interactivity. 'Views...' is an emotional tour-de-force that quickly engages the participant and takes them on a click-through journey of Jess' own personal experiential spaces. The piece was designed as a stand-alone net.art experience, but has also been installed in a physical space with sculptural elements, for those more comfortable with traditional art forms — as a way to draw that audience into the realm of net.art.
When we contacted Jess about doing our own interactive review of 'Views...', she was both gracious and generous. Her active participation in the process was a delight and an unexpected bonus. She provided invaluable audio feedback to our raw review of the piece, which has been woven into our interpretation of "Views..." presented here.
