Ed Falco
Edward Falco published a collection of short stories, Plato at Scratch Daniel's & Other Stories (University of Arkansas, 1990); a novel, Winter in Florida (Soho, 1990); and a chapbook of prose poems, Concert in the Park of Culture (Tamarack, 1985), before making his first foray into electronic literature with the hypertext poetry collection Sea Island (Eastgate Systems, 1995). Since then he has published the hypertext novel A Dream with Demons (Eastgate Systems, 1997), three more collections of short stories, and his most recent book, the novel Wolf Point (Unbridled Books, 2005). Considered by many to be a pioneer in the field of hypertext, the precursor to today's ever-widening field of electronic literature, Falco continues to explore the merging of literature and technology as he edits The New River, an online journal of digital writing; he is also currently working on a hypertext composition with photographer Mary Pinto.
In this interview for ninthletter.com, conducted by Amy Sayre-Roberts in the Ninth Letter editorial offices, Falco discusses the complexities of writing in traditional and electronic forms, and future of digital literature.
