Oh America! - Ron Carlson
Oh America, an essay by Ron Carlson, appeared as a special-edition tear-out poster in our Fall/Winter 2004 issue. A companion piece, My America, is forthcoming in our Spring/Summer 2008 issue. This audio version of Oh America, is performed by Eduardo Garcia as part of a collaborative project between Ninth Letter and the Department of Theatre at the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign.
Ron Carlson's most recent book is the novel Five Skies (Viking) chosen a best book of 2007 by the Los Angeles Times. His book on writing, Ron Carlson Writes a Story (Graywolf) was also published last year. He directs the Graduate Program in Fiction at the University of California, Irvine.
