Bitch and the Exciting Conclusion

Packing heat with her bass guitar, electric violin and ukulele, singer/songwriter Bitch (formerly of Bitch and Animal) recently released her first solo effort Make This/Break This on Ani DeFranco's label Righteous Babe Records. Combining a fierce political message with intimate tales of personal heartbreak, Bitch's music feels like a cross between soft summer rain and a tornado. Bitch toured with the renowned folk duo Indigo Girls for her solo release, as well as headlining her own cross-country tour with her band Bitch and the Exciting Conclusion. Gaining fame for her passionate artistic collaborations with partner Daniela Sea (star of HBO's The L Word) as well as acclaim for her role in John Cameron Mitchell's feature film Shortbus; Bitch is fast becoming a star, especially in the gay and lesbian community. Yet Bitch's punk-rock presence and uncompromising artistic vision translates well in any arena, and live performances are where she really shines. Ninth Letter had the chance to experience this firsthand, witnessing her electrifying show at Chicago's iconic Old Town School of Folk Music in spring 2007.
